Welcome to Transportation College of Jilin University!
The predecessor of Transportation College of Jilin University was the first Automobile Application and Repair Major in China, established in 1956. In May 1992, Transportation College was established based on Automobile Application Engineering and Transportation Management Major, and was subsequently renamed as Transportation College of Jilin University in 1996 after the new Jilin University (also, the University) was merged in June 2000. It is one of the transportation colleges established earlier and stronger in China. The college has a faculty team with a reasonable structure of educational background, professional title and age structure. At present, it is home to 110 faculty members (19 doctoral supervisors and 22 professors), among whom 4 are former and current members of the State Council's discipline evaluation group. 85% of the total teachers have doctoral degrees and in-service doctoral degree programs.
After more than 40 years of development, the college has five doctoral and master programs, including Vehicle Operation Engineering, Transportation Planning and Management, Traffic Information Engineering and Control, Road Bridge and River-crossing Engineering and Traffic Environment and Security Technology. In addition, there are master's programs in Logistics Engineering, which have the right to grant engineering and professional masters in Transportation Engineering and Logistics Engineering. In 1995, with the approval of the State Council, the college established the first post-doctoral mobile station of highway, railway and water transportation in China. In 1998, the discipline of Transportation Planning and Management was granted the post qualification of program distinguished professors. In 2000, the discipline of Transportation Engineering was granted the right to confer the doctoral degree of the first-level discipline. At present, Traffic Information Engineering and Control is a national key discipline, and two secondary disciplines have been identified as key disciplines in Jilin Province. The college has five undergraduate majors, namely Transportation, Logistics Engineering, Traffic Engineering, Road Bridge and River-crossing Engineering, and Automobile Service Engineering. The college now has four departments, five research institutes and one research center, namely the Department of Vehicle Operation Engineering, Department of Transportation Planning and Management, Department of Traffic Information Engineering and Control, Department of Road Bridge and River-crossing Engineering and Institute of Automobile Transportation Engineering, Institute of Modern Logistics, Institute of Traffic Engineering and Institute of Structural Engineering, Institute of Traffic Accident and Intelligent Transportation System Research and Development Center. Also, Changchun Automobile Transportation Engineering Research Institute and Jilin Vehicle Comprehensive Performance Test Center Station (Jilin University vehicle detection technology research and Development Center) are set up in the Academy.
Since its establishment, the college has trained a large number of professionals for China's transportation industry. There are 1489 full-time students in the college, including 73 doctoral students, 242 master students and 1174 undergraduate students. Besides, there are more than 600 engineering masters and adult correspondence students.
Through the construction of the national "211 Project" during the period of "Ninth Five-Year Plan", "Tenth Five-Year Plan" and "Eleventh Five-Year Plan", the equipment condition of the college has been obviously improved, with a total equipment asset of nearly 30 million, which provides a good environment for high-level personnel training and scientific research. In recent years, the college has been responsible for and undertaken more than 300 national and provincial research projects, including 2 key projects of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, 10 key scientific and technological research projects in the Tenth Five-Year Plan, 10 national "863" Plan projects, 15 general projects of the National Natural Science foundation of China, and more than 100 horizontal projects; it has also won more than 40 national, ministerial and provincial scientific and technological progress awards and natural science awards, and won 60 patents; it has published more than 60 academic monographs, textbooks and other scientific and technological works; he has published more than 1000 academic papers, of which more than 300 indexed by SCI, EI and ISTP. In the past decade, the college has paid attention to strengthening academic exchanges with domestic and foreign universities, and has established cooperative relations with more than 10 foreign universities. The frequent academic exchanges between colleges have enhanced the influence of the college at home and abroad and promoted the overall development of the college.
Under the guidance of the national science and technology development strategy, the transportation industry will usher in new challenges and opportunities. With the joint efforts of teachers and students of the college, the college will continue to develop and improve, meet the needs of specialized personnel and scientific research in the field of transportation, forge ahead, continue to play an important role as an important training base for high-level transportation talents and a scientific and technological research base in the field of transportation, so as to make contributions to the development of China's transportation industry.
