Undergraduate Education Plan of Road and Bridge Engineering

a)Training Objectives

Our Training objectives are to train talents who can adapt to the socialist modernization construction and the future development needs of society and science and technology, be full of conscience and social responsibility, have the practical ability and the international field of vision, master the Roads and Bridge Engineering related basic theory and basic knowledge, can solve complex engineering problems.

After graduation, students can continue to pursue further study in related disciplines of road and bridge engineering and river crossing engineering, or engage in design, construction, scientific research, planning, testing, testing, maintenance and management in road engineering, bridge engineering, airport engineering and other fields. About five years after graduation, I am preliminarily equipped with the abilities of project planning, management, research and development and the quality of humanities and social sciences. I am expected to be qualified for important technical and management positions in design departments, large enterprises, scientific research institutions, government agencies and other units.

b)Business Training Requirements

Our professional students should have solid mathematics, mechanics, the basic theory of natural science and engineering technology, master the related subjects such as roads, bridges and tunnels of professional knowledge, accept road and bridge engineering design, construction and other aspects of basic training, understanding of humanities and social science, laws and regulations, basic theoretical knowledge of economic management and related subjects.

Graduates should have the following abilities:

1. Can apply the basic principles and knowledge of mathematics and other disciplines to solve complex engineering problems in the field of Roads and Bridge engineering.

2. Considering a variety of factors, propose solutions to complex engineering problems. The design meets the specifications and construction technological process and can reflect the consciousness of innovation in the design process.

3. Research on the complex road, bridge and river crossing engineering based on scientific principles and using scientific methods.

4. Be able to predict and simulate complex engineering problems by using library resources, computer technology and modern engineering tools, and understand their limitations.

5. Be able to conduct reasonable analysis based on the background knowledge of Road and Bridge Engineering, evaluate the social, health, safety, legal and cultural impacts of professional engineering practices and complex engineering problem solutions, and understand the responsibilities.

6. Be able to understand the impact of professional engineering practices on the environmental and social sustainable development of Roads and Bridges Engineering.

7. With humanistic and social science literacy and social responsibility, you should understand and abide by engineering professional ethics and norms in engineering practice and fulfill your responsibilities.

8. Have a sense of teamwork, able to play the roles of the individual, team member or leader in a multi-disciplinary team.

9. Have the ability to communicate effectively with peers and the public on complex engineering issues, proficiency in foreign languages, international perspective, and cross-cultural communication.

10. To understand and master the management principles and economic decision-making methods of Road and Bridge Engineering projects, and be able to apply them in a multidisciplinary environment.

11. Have a clear understanding of autonomous learning and lifelong learning, and can continuously learn and adapt to development.

c)The main subjects and core courses:

Major subjects: Mechanics, Civil Engineering, and Transportation Engineering

Core courses: Theoretical Mechanics, Mechanics of Materials, Elastic Mechanics, Structural Mechanics, Surveying, Engineering Geology, Soil Science and Soil Mechanics, Road Building Materials, Principles of Structural Design, Highway Surveying and Design, Subgrade and Pavement Engineering, Bridge Engineering,

Link of main practicality education: professional cognition practice, the highway engineering geological practice, the surveying practice, the curriculum design, structure design principle of the curriculum design, basic engineering the roadbed engineering practice and design, the road reconnaissance design practice and design, the bridge engineering practice and design, graduation design (paper).

Major experiments: material mechanics experiment, road building materials experiment, soil and soil mechanics experiment, subgrade and pavement experiment, surveying experiment, bridge detection and reinforcement experiment, bridge engineering experiment, foundation engineering experiment.

d)Professional features and direction:

Specialty features: the combination of theory and practice; Based on the major training, students can not only learn the professional knowledge of road and bridge direction but also understand the relevant professional knowledge of transportation information engineering and control, transportation planning, vehicle and vehicle application engineering, etc.

Professional direction: engaged in the design, construction, scientific research, planning, testing, maintenance and management in road engineering, bridge engineering, airport engineering and other fields

g)Graduation qualification standard:

1. Have good mental and physical quality, and meet the standards of moral education and physical education stipulated by the school.

2. Through all the courses stipulated in the training program, the total credits of the major can reach 169, among which 146.5 credits of various courses and 22.5 credits of independent practice teaching.

3. 8 credits of the extracurricular training program.
