I. Training Objectives
He or she has a rigorous learning style, factual seeking and innovative scientific spirit. Have solid and broad basic theories and deep and systematic expertise in the field of the discipline. In-depth understanding of the current situation, development trends and academic frontiers of the discipline. Ability to independently conduct scientific research in transportation system analysis, planning and design, transportation system management, intelligent transportation systems, and logistics technology and economics. Proficiency in the use of computers and advanced transportation testing equipment. Academic leader in the discipline, capable of teaching and researching in universities and research institutes, or engaging in high-level technical management in the transportation sector.
II. Research Direction
The research directions, the main contents of the research directions and the leaders of the research directions of the transportation planning and management major are listed in the attached Table 1.
III. Length of Study and Time Allocation
1. The duration of full-time study is three years, and the duration of on-the-job study is four years. If necessary, students may apply for deferment of graduation. The total number of credits is 17 credits (13 credits for required courses and 4 credits for electives).
2. The duration of the course is generally one year and the duration of the dissertation is generally two years, and the course and the dissertation can be carried out concurrently, and students can apply for the dissertation defense only after completing the required credits.
3. Doctoral students generally spend at least two years on scientific research and thesis writing.
IV. Curriculum and Time Requirements
See Appendix II for course offerings, credit hour assignments, and class start times.
V. Literature Reading
The reading and reporting of professional literature is an effective way for doctoral students to understand the frontier of the discipline and grasp the development of the discipline, as well as an important part of cultivating their ability to acquire knowledge independently, therefore, doctoral students are required to read at least 80 pieces of professional literature. Therefore, doctoral students are required to read at least 80 pieces of professional literature. The reading should be completed by the end of the second semester.
VI. Opening Report
Through literature reading and academic research, under the guidance of the supervisor, doctoral students should decide the topic of their dissertation as early as possible and give a dissertation proposal at the beginning of the third semester. The dissertation report should be written in the prescribed format and reported publicly. Only those who pass the exam will be allowed to work on the dissertation, while those who fail the exam will have to repeat the dissertation report.
VII. Mid-term Assessment
The evaluation team will conduct a mid-term evaluation of the dissertation work of doctoral students, mainly to check the progress of the dissertation and give guidance to those who fail to pass the examination and defer the dissertation defense.
VIII. Thesis Work
In general, the total time spent by doctoral students on scientific research and thesis writing should not be less than two years. The supervisor should keep track of the progress of the dissertation work and adjust the plan of the dissertation work timely and necessary according to the actual needs. The specific requirements of the doctoral dissertation are in accordance with the regulations of the university.
