Overview:
The Research Center for Intelligent Traffic Sensing and Control focuses on modern road transportation systems. The Intelligent Transportation Sensing and Control Research Center is dedicated to advancing research on modern road transportation systems. Its research focuses include transportation big data analytics and intelligent sensing, connected and automated traffic control, traffic organization and optimization, traffic risk identification and safety control, operation and management of new energy public transportation systems, and the application of large language models (LLMs) in transportation.
The Center currently has 12 staff members, including four professors, five associate professors, one postdoctoral researcher, and two laboratory instructors. Seven faculty members are doctoral supervisors. In recent years, the Center has led two projects under the National High-Tech Research and Development Program of China (863 Program), eight projects funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, two subprojects under NSFC Key Programs, two subprojects under the National Key Research and Development Program of China, and more than ten other projects at the provincial and ministerial levels. It has published more than 300 academic papers and been granted over 50 Chinese invention patents. The Center has received a First Prize of the Jilin Provincial Science and Technology Progress Award, a First Prize of the Science and Technology Progress Award of the China Intelligent Transportation Systems Association, and a Second Prize of the Heilongjiang Provincial Higher Education Science and Technology Award. Faculty members and graduate students from the Center have undertaken academic visits and exchanges at leading universities, including the University of Washington, The University of Texas at Austin, Monash University, the National University of Singapore, and Nanyang Technological University.
The Center maintains a vibrant and collaborative academic environment and is committed to conducting high-quality research that addresses real-world transportation challenges. In collaboration with Hisense TransTech Co., Ltd. and Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd., it has carried out research and development on adaptive traffic signal control systems and intelligent scheduling technologies for electric buses. The resulting technologies have been deployed in more than 100 cities across China, generating significant social and economic benefits. Under the supervision of the Center’s faculty, a number of graduate and undergraduate students have published papers in leading international journals, including Computer-Aided Civil and Infrastructure Engineering, Transportation Research Part C: Emerging Technologies, IEEE Transactions on Intelligent Transportation Systems, and Energy. Students have also received National Scholarships, Outstanding Graduate honors, and first prizes in transportation science and technology competitions.
