Overview：
The Jilin Provincial Engineering Research Center for Intelligent Transportation is supported by the School of Transportation at Jilin University and the Jilin Provincial Key Laboratory of Road Traffic. Classified in the fields of transportation and electronics, it was officially recognized as a Jilin Provincial Engineering Research Center in the tenth batch approved by the Jilin Provincial Development and Reform Commission on December 19, 2017, under Document No. JFGGJ [2017] 1057. The Center conducts research across most major areas of intelligent transportation systems. It has 1,500 square meters of dedicated research space and 402 items of research equipment with a total value of RMB 29.24 million.
With a strategic commitment to serving Jilin Province and contributing to the nationwide development of intelligent transportation, the Center addresses shared technological needs and major technical challenges in the intelligent transportation sector. Building on the research achievements and expertise of its teams, the Center conducts research, technology development, practical implementation, and knowledge transfer in four principal areas: intelligent traffic data sensing and analysis, intelligent traffic management and applications, traffic safety and emergency response, and the planning and design of intelligent transportation systems.
Guided by the needs of transportation operations and management, the Center is supported by its research teams, research platforms, and efficient management mechanisms. Through national and provincial research programs and major engineering projects, it develops advanced intelligent transportation technologies and systems that support real-time transportation operations and practical applications. The Center also promotes the transfer and industrial application of its research outcomes, with the aim of generating broader economic and social benefits. As of December 31, 2025, the Center had 20 ongoing research projects, including two national-level projects, 11 provincial- and ministerial-level projects, and seven projects commissioned by enterprises and public institutions, with total research funding of RMB 5.4245 million.
The Center has received four National Science and Technology Progress Awards, including three Second Prizes and one Third Prize, as well as 11 First and Second Prizes for Science and Technology Progress at the provincial and ministerial levels. Other honors include one First Prize of the Jilin Provincial Teaching Achievement Award, one Second Prize from the National Press and Publication Administration, one research achievement award from the U.S. Department of Transportation, one Second Prize and one Third Prize of the Military Science and Technology Progress Award, and two Daqing Science and Technology Progress Awards. These achievements place the Center among the leading institutions of its kind.
