Overview

The Intelligent Transportation Systems Research and Development Center of Jilin University, hereinafter referred to as the ITS R&D Center, was established in 1995. Since its founding, the Center has been committed to original innovation and the development of independently owned intellectual property. In core areas of intelligent transportation systems, including traffic information sensing, traffic signal control, traffic guidance, and smart expressways, the Center has led and completed more than 60 national, provincial and ministerial, and engineering and industrialization projects. It has achieved two major theoretical advances and more than 20 significant technological breakthroughs. The Center has also independently developed a dynamic traffic guidance system and a new-generation intelligent traffic control system and has enabled the coordinated operation of the two systems.

The ITS R&D Center has a well-structured research team with strong theoretical foundations in intelligent transportation systems, advanced technical expertise, and extensive practical experience. The Center currently has seven faculty members, including four professors and three associate professors, five of whom are doctoral supervisors. It also has 37 graduate students, comprising 10 doctoral students and 27 masters students.

As of June 2022, the Center had led and completed more than 90 national, provincial and ministerial, and engineering and industrialization projects. These included one project under the National Science and Technology Support Program, six projects under the National High-Tech Research and Development Program of China (863 Program) during the Eleventh Five-Year Plan period, two major projects under the National Key Technologies R&D Program during the Tenth Five-Year Plan period, one national key technology research project during the Ninth Five-Year Plan period, and more than ten General and Key Program projects funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China. The Center has received four National Science and Technology Progress Awards, including three Second Prizes and one Third Prize, as well as more than ten First and Second Prizes for Science and Technology Progress at the provincial and ministerial levels. It has been granted more than 20 Chinese invention patents and registered over ten computer software copyrights. Researchers at the Center have authored more than ten books and monographs and published over 500 papers indexed by major international citation databases.
